If you are upgrading from versions of Jama prior to 8.0, e.g. 2015.5, the upgrade process will be different from previous upgrades as the deployment model has changed.
Note: It is highly recommended that you perform the upgrade in a test environment before your upgrading production environment.
|•||Configure a supported environment. See Preparation for more information.|
|•||Choose your upgrade channel.|
|•||Locate your production and staging environment licenses.|
|•||Ensure your current version of Jama does not have a build date older than 2015/11/20. If you are running an older version of Jama, you will not be able to successfully upgrade|
Note: Our recommended upgrade path is 3.x > 4.x > 4.2.x > 2014.x > 2015.x > 2015.5 > 8.24.
Depending on your current environment setup, the steps in the upgrade process to 8.24 will vary. Before upgrading, be sure you are fully aware of the Supported Software for your channel and the Production System Requirements. Jama versions 8.0 and above will not work in a Windows environment nor will they work with an Oracle database.
If you are upgrading from a version of Jama using Oracle, you will need to migrate to a supported database before upgrading to December. See Migrating Databases for more information on the process.
If you are upgrading a version of Jama running on Windows, you will need to migrate to a supported Linux operating system. Once the Linux environment is properly configured, move on to Migrating to 8.24.
Since this is your first time upgrading to Jama version 8.24, this process will consist of a migration.
If Jama is currently running in a supported OS, you can stage the new installation on the same server. However, there are a few caveats to this.
|•||Your previous version of Jama must not be running at the time of installation.|
|•||No other applications can run on the server.|
|•||Once you have completed the migration, you must remove your previous Jama installation.|
|1.||Migrate existing data from [contour_home] on your current Jama server to /data/contour/ on the Jama 8.24 server.|
|2.||If you are migrating your database, see Migrating Databases.|
|3.||Follow the installation instructions.|
|4.||Verify that the installation was successful.|
|5.||Remove any previous installations of Jama from the server.|
Once Jama has been successfully installed, upgrading to future releases will be done within the Admin Console.
