You must have system administrator permissions to complete this task while logged in as root. An organization administrator or a project administrator can also index project items.

Search indexes get out of sync with the database due to large batch updates, API updates, or database updates. During a full index, all search indexes will be rewritten to the current values in the database.

  1. Notify users prior to initiating an index.

  2. Disable all integrations including legacy connectors and the Jama/Tasktop Integration Hub. DWR, SOAP and REST API calls will be automatically blocked during the reindex.


    The system administrator does not have access to disable integrations. Work with an organization administrator or integrations administrator to disable those services.

  3. Log in to Jama Connect as system administrator.

  4. Select the Index/Search tab and select Index items.

  5. You will see a count of items in the application and the estimated time to complete the index. Select Yes to continue.

  6. The application automatically enters maintenance mode during the index. Users will not be able to log in during this time. Users who are already logged in will receive a pop-up message informing them of the maintenance.

  7. You will see an alert when indexing is complete and maintenance mode will be automatically disabled.
