Jama Connect User Guide

Configure memory settings

Use the advanced memory settings to make changes to the memory allocation of containers that are running Java processes:

  • The jamacore application

This uses 4GB by default, plus a proportion of the remaining total memory.

  • Search service

This uses 1GB by default, plus a proportion of the remaining total memory.

  • Elasticsearch

This uses 2GB by default, plus a proportion of the remaining total memory.

The memory settings can be expressed as a simple formula, using:

  • Operators "+", "-", "/" and "*"

  • Brackets "(" and ")" to specify order of operations

  • The $total variable to reference the total memory of the application server

  • Numbers with units KB, MB, GB, or percentages "%"

Note

When changing memory settings, make sure to not over-allocate the total memory of the application server. Monitor usage and make sure to leave a fair amount of memory available for system processes.

  1. Select Settings in the admin console header to configure the advanced memory settings.

  2. Settings will not take place until you restart the application. Select Save and you will see the confirmation that your settings have been saved.

If you want to come back later to apply changes (when downtime won't be an issue for users) select Cancel and restart later.

If you are ready to restart the application and apply the changes now, select Restart now).
