Prepare Microsoft Word document for import

Whether or not you are creating the Microsoft Word document for importing items into Jama Connect, consider these things to make sure the import goes smoothly.

  • Headings and styles

    Use Headings and Styles within your Word document to determine hierarchy.

  • Tables

    When importing, you can use tables in Word documents in three distinct ways.

  • Field mapping

    The field mapping process is slightly different depending whether you're using headers or tables to determine hierarchy.

Note

Many Word styles are imported, but not all styles are converted exactly. The Data Import Wizard is unable to import a table of contents. Images are included as part of the import. OLE components, such as embedded Visio diagrams, are imported as PNG images.
